Accountants for Small Business

Most small businesses don’t want three different providers and a pile of admin. We handle the lot – books, BAS, payroll, EOFY accounts and tax – and we’re here for the decisions in between, so you can get on with running the business.

Why small business is what we do best

Small business is the heart of what we do. Most of our clients are owner-run businesses turning over somewhere between a few hundred thousand and a few million dollars – the size where you’re too big to wing it on a spreadsheet, but not big enough to have a finance team. That’s exactly the gap a good accountant fills: handling the compliance properly, and being on hand for the decisions that don’t fit neatly into a tax return.

The trap a lot of small businesses fall into is treating their accountant as a once-a-year cost – a return lodged, a bill paid, see you next July. By then every decision that could have saved tax or improved cashflow is already made. We’d rather work with you through the year, so the numbers are current, the surprises are few, and you can actually use your accountant when a decision is in front of you.

What small businesses need from an accountant

  1. Everything in one place. Bookkeeping, BAS, payroll, EOFY accounts and tax all handled together means the numbers agree and nothing falls through the gap between two providers.
  2. Compliance that just happens. BAS, super, PAYG and your annual return done on time, every time, so you’re never caught out by a date or a letter.
  3. Tax planned, not just reported. The conversations that reduce a tax bill happen before 30 June. We have them with you.
  4. The right structure. Sole trader, company or trust – the right answer changes as you grow, and it affects your tax and your risk. We keep it under review.
  5. Advice when it counts. Whether to hire, how to price, whether you can afford that purchase – a quick call before a decision beats fixing it after.
  6. Someone who answers. A real person who knows your business and picks up the phone – not a different junior every time.

How we help small business

Bookkeeping & BAS

Clean, reconciled books in Xero or MYOB, with BAS and IAS lodged on time.

Payroll & super

Payroll and Single Touch Payroll set up correctly, with super paid on time.

Tax & structure

EOFY accounts, group tax returns, tax planning and the right structure as you grow.

Advisory

Budgets, cashflow and the numbers behind the big decisions, in plain English.

One firm across the whole business

Most small businesses don’t want to juggle a bookkeeper, a BAS agent and a tax accountant who never speak to each other. We handle the lot, so it’s consistent, it’s connected, and nothing gets missed in the handover.

Advice when it counts

Beyond compliance, we’re here for the decisions – whether to hire, how to price, when to change structure, how to manage cash through a quiet patch. A short conversation before a decision is worth far more than a clever return after it.

The businesses we work with

Owner-run businesses. The classic small business where the owner does a bit of everything – we take the finance side off your plate.

Trades and services. Builders, sparkies, plumbers, mechanics and service businesses with staff, subbies and BAS to manage.

Retail and hospitality. Shops, cafes and venues where wages, stock and cashflow need a close eye.

Professional and online businesses. Consultants, agencies and online sellers scaling past the side-hustle stage.

Questions small business owners ask us

Can you do everything – books, BAS, payroll and tax?
Yes – that’s the point. One firm across the whole business, so the figures line up and nothing is missed.
When should we do tax planning?
Before 30 June. A session in May or June is where the savings happen – after year-end the options are gone.
Is my business structure still right?
It’s worth checking as you grow. The setup that suited you at the start can quietly cost you later; we’ll tell you if it is.
Can you deal with the ATO for us?
Yes – as your tax agent we handle ATO correspondence, lodgements and payment arrangements on your behalf.
Do we get a real person to talk to?
Yes – someone who knows your business and answers the phone, not a different junior each time.
